How To Play
General Rules (All Modes)
One player is secretly chosen as the "Imposter". All other players are "Normal Players". The goal is to identify the Imposter. The Imposter's goal is to blend in and avoid detection.
After a round of clues or answers, players discuss and then vote for who they think the Imposter is. The game then reveals the Imposter and the votes.
The host can set a timer for the discussion phase. If the timer runs out, voting begins immediately.
Game Mode: Questions Game
Objective: Identify the player whose answer doesn't fit the main question.
- The Questions: All Normal Players receive the same main question. The Imposter receives a different question.
- Answering: Everyone types an answer.
- Discussion: Answers are revealed (main question shown). Discuss. The Imposter must try to justify their answer.
- Voting & Reveal.
Game Mode: Secret Word Game
Objective: Identify the player who doesn't know the secret word.
- The Word & Category: Host selects a category (or "All"). Normal Players see a secret word (and image) from that category. The Imposter is told they are the Imposter and is shown the category of the secret word as a hint.
- Clue Giving (Verbal): Players take turns giving a single, one-word clue for the secret word. Game randomly picks a starting player. Click "Ready" after seeing your info.
- Discussion: Once all are ready, the starting player gives their clue, then proceed around the group. Discuss who might be the Imposter.
- Voting & Reveal. The secret word and its category are also revealed.
Game Mode: Locations Game
Objective: Identify the player who doesn't know the secret location.
- Location Setup: The Host selects a list of possible locations for the round (default is all 22 locations).
- The Location: All Normal Players are told the secret location for the round (e.g., "Beach"). The Imposter is told they are the Imposter and does NOT see the location.
- Getting Ready: Players click "Ready" after seeing their information. During this phase (and discussion), all players can click a "View Possible Locations" button to see the full list of 22 locations the Host could have chosen from.
- Discussion (Verbal): Players take turns making a statement or asking a question as if they are at the secret location. The Imposter must try to blend in.
- Voting & Reveal: Players vote for the Imposter. The actual location is revealed.
Game Mode: Whose Answer? Game
Objective: Find out which player provided a particular answer to a question.
- The Question: Everyone is shown the same question and submits their answer honestly.
- Reveal: The game randomly selects one player's answer and displays only that single answer to the group.
- Discussion: Discuss and decide who you think wrote the revealed answer.
- Voting & Scoring: The group votes for which player they believe wrote the revealed answer. If the majority correctly identifies the author, all non-target players gain 1 point and each player who voted correctly earns an additional +1. If the group fails to identify the author (majority is wrong), the selected player gains 2 points. In the event of a tie, the selected player gains 1 point.
Scoring / Points
Rounds are scored immediately after each reveal. The Host sets a Target Score in the "Set Up Your Game" screen — the first player to reach that score wins the match.
- All Game Modes —
- Correct Imposter vote: Non-Imposters +1 (correct voters additional +1).
- Failed Imposter vote: Imposter +2.
- Vote tie: Imposter +1.
Notes: Points are persistent across rounds in a match until the Host starts a new match (which can reset scores). The Target Score is configurable in the Set Up screen (default is 10).
